かつては東京湾をはじめ、日本各地の干潟や河口で見られたアオギス（青ギス）。しかし、埋立てや干潟の消失、環境悪化の影響により生息数は激減し、今では「幻のキス」「絶滅危惧種」とも呼ばれる存在になってしまいました。
大分県・中津港では、数年前までは普通に釣れていたと言われる青ギス。
果たして、今も青ギスは生息しているのか？
実際に現地へ足を運び、釣友U-chanと探索してみました。

The Blue Whiting (Aogisu) was once commonly found in tidal flats and river mouths throughout Japan, including Tokyo Bay.
However, due to land reclamation, the loss of tidal flats, and environmental degradation, its population has drastically declined.
Today, it is often referred to as a “legendary” or endangered species.
At Nakatsu Port in Oita Prefecture, Blue Whiting were said to be caught regularly just a few years ago.
So the question is—are they still here today?
